What is the difference between buying second-hand, recycling, and refurbishment ?
A second-hand smartphone may be a product that has just been unwrapped
or a badly-damaged product. Some people sell their devices “as seen”, and the
buyer is then responsible for repairing it, when necessary.
A refurbished smartphone,
however, is a device that has undergone various tests and that has been
restored functionally. Any faulty parts are thus replaced to provide a fully
operational phone. The purchase price is then much lower than for a new
smartphone but with the same functionalities.
a smartphone, or one of its parts, entails destroying it to recover the various
materials contained inside.
